Candle Care & Safety

While candles can be relaxing, inspirational, and transformative, open flames must be monitored properly. We want you to enjoy the magic and burn your candles safely, so please review the guidelines below to experience the magic each and every time!
Before burning your candle
  • Trim the wick to approximately 1/8 inch or 3 mm. This will provide a more rewarding color and fragrance experience, and prevent uneven burning, soot, and mushrooming of the wick.
  • Always trim wicks before each burn. Keep the wax pool clean and free of wick trimmings, matches, and debris.
  • When lighting for the first time, allow the candle to remain lit until wax melts or liquefies across the entire surface up to the sides of container.
  • Place the candle on a stable, level, and heat-resistant surface. This will reduce or prevent possible damage to surfaces and prevent the glass containers from cracking.
  • Avoid burning candle in drafty or windy areas to avoid uneven burning, diminished scent, soot build-up, and excessive dripping.
Burning your candle
  • For best results, burn your candle approximately 2-4 hours each time you light the candle. This allows for an even pool of color to develop over the entire surface of the candle. This will help the candle burn evenly, last longer, and prevent tunneling.
  • For maximum fragrance experience, keep windows and doors closed.
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended or lit while resting or sleeping.
  • Never touch or move a burning candle container while the wax pool is liquefied.
  • Extinguish the candle when approximately 1/2 inch or 12 mm of wax remains at the bottom of the container to prevent the container from overheating.
  • When burning multiple candles, place candles at least 6 inches apart to ensure peak performance and allow each candle to burn safely.
  • Extinguish candle if the flame reaches over 3 inches in height. Before re-lighting, let candle cool, trim wick, and move away from drafts.
  • Keep burning candles away from anything flammable such as blankets, fabrics, furniture, drapes, bedding, carpets, books, paper, or other décor items.
  • Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets. Do not place lit candles where they might be tipped over by children or pets. Hair is highly flammable!
Extinguishing your candle
  • Use a snuffer to prevent liquefied wax from splattering or dip the wick into the melted wax and then straighten the wick to prevent smoking.
  • Do not blow out your candle.
  • Do not use water to extinguish a candle. This can cause wax to splatter and the glass container to break.
  • Before leaving the room, make sure your candle is completely extinguished and the wick end is not glowing or smoldering.
  • Do not touch or move the candle until it has completely cooled.
Storing your candle
  • After the candle cools completely, cover with the original lid to prevent dust or debris and retain fragrance integrity.
  • Store in a cool, dark, dry place.
  • Avoid placing candles where they might be exposed to direct sunlight.
